Private dog training can be very effective for many dogs as well as their guardians. It provides a familiar environment for learning that is comfortable and nonthreatening. At All Dogs Are Good Dogs, we offer several dog training packages that can include private sessions.

The training is customized to meet the unique needs of the dog as well as the guardian’s goals, which may include housebreaking, obedience training, walking on a leash or behavioral modification.

A free initial phone consultation is a prerequisite for booking any of our training services. This conversation is important to answer any questions or concerns that a potential client might have.

We also use it to establish what the best form of training is for you and your dog, as well as ensure that we are a good fit for you.

We train dogs from North Shore to Salem, west to Watertown, Boston, Jamaica Plain, and Dorchester.

1:1 Coaching in Your Home Tailored to Your Dog’s Needs

We offer a wide range of affordable dog training options, including puppy training. Each service is individually designed to meet the unique needs of dogs and their guardians.

To ensure the best possible outcome for both dog and guardian, each training plan is tailored to the dog’s individual needs, taking into account:

  • Breed
  • Age

  • Temperament

  • Personality

  • Goals

What Does It Cost?

A one-on-one, in-person, in-home private training session is $195 for 1 hour.

What to Expect

In a typical weekly session, I will come to your home and work with you and your dog on the issues that were discussed during your phone consultation.

Training typically starts with a check-in about how the previous week has gone with you and your dog, and then we review what we worked on in the last week’s session and tweak it as needed.

Each week, we focus on building out 2-3 skills (both for the dog and the guardian!). I will model the behaviors first, and then coach guardians through practicing it on their own so they can be successful in continuing to reinforce it throughout the week. We’ll end with homework for building the behavior between sessions. You also have access to office hours twice a week for support between sessions.

Does It Work?

Several factors make in-home dog training so effective:

Individualized attention

One-on-one training sessions allow trainers to focus solely on the dog and guardian.

Comfort and familiarity

Training in the dog’s own home reduces stress, allowing for easier generalization of learned behaviors. It is extremely helpful to work with the dog in the environment where the behavior is taking place.

Convenience

In-home training is more convenient for many guardians because they don’t need to travel. This means a more relaxed guardian and dog. The familiar environment as a whole is more conducive to learning.

1:1 Online Private Dog Training: Convenient and Flexible

Dog guardians who are busy or who can’t travel often benefit from online dog training classes. Virtual dog training is not new, but it has recently become a mainstream way for dog training. Holistic Dog Training’s blog points out a major benefit: recording the virtual sessions allows you to go back and view them later. How great is that? There are some great FAQs included in the blog, too!

As your virtual dog trainer, All Dogs Are Good Dogs will work with you and your dog in much the same way we do for in-person training. This is accomplished by utilizing video conferencing technology to effectively observe and guide both the dog and the guardian.

The advantage for you and your dog is that you can train in the convenience and comfort of your own home, working on a schedule that is right for you.

In some instances, such as when a dog has “stranger danger,” we create a hybrid model and transition to in-person training once the dog has developed some basic skills.

Does It Work?

Several studies show that the effectiveness of remote dog training is comparable to traditional in-home training when it is conducted by experienced professionals. It can address many common behavioral issues like jumping on people, walking on a leash and basic obedience training. Also, just as with in-person training, it allows real-time feedback and adjustments during the training sessions.

If you are looking for dog training to address basic obedience issues or to help with specific behaviors, our online dog training may be a great option for you.

Skeptical about virtual training? We have found it’s actually MORE effective in certain cases! This can be discussed on your initial phone consultation.

What Does It Cost?

A 1-hour online private dog training session is $145.

What to Expect

You will talk with the trainer during your initial phone consultation, who will use that information to customize training based on your dog’s (and your) specific needs and goals.

During each session, you will receive expert guidance from our experienced trainers who will provide clear instructions and model the skills for you first, using our own dogs. The trainers watch you, answer your questions, and give you real-time feedback during your sessions.

Recurring Private Training Packages: The Foundation of Consistency and Structure

Consistency is the key to achieving great results from dog training. A dog will rarely learn everything that he needs in a single session.

We highly recommend our recurring private packages for dogs because they provide structure and consistency, which are essential to achieving training goals.

While all dogs are good dogs, no two dogs are the same. That’s why we customize each plan to the dog to ensure it addresses his specific needs, as well as his guardian’s goals.

Does It Work?

The consistency of recurring training sessions will continually reinforce the training, allowing the dog to retain more. Over time you will see unwanted behaviors corrected and positive behaviors become more natural to the dog.

Packages keep guardians on track and make sure that we’re making consistent progress. For 1:1 consults, the pacing allows enough time for guardians to make progress between sessions, while checking in often enough that we’re able to address anything that needs to be tweaked before it becomes a habit.

What Does It Cost?

We offer several recurring, private training packages:

  • 4-pack, 1-hour sessions: $750
  • 6-pack, 1-hour sessions: $1,075
  • 8-pack, 1-hour sessions: $1,370

What to Expect

Your sessions will be scheduled in a way that works best for you but also in a way that provides the consistency in training that your dog needs.

Under our expert guidance, regular training sessions ensure consistent reinforcement of learned behaviors, which encourages continued progress. You will have the benefit of ongoing support and guidance throughout the training program.

Regular, consistent training will grow the bond between you and your dog — the best benefit of all.

Expect to build confidence as you and your dog realize you can communicate effectively with each other!

Day Training: Intensive and Behavior Specific

This is an intensive program that happens at the client’s home for three 1-hour sessions each week.

This option also includes a transfer session on the weekends.

Day Training is perfect for clients who do not have the time or energy to dedicate to 1:1 Coaching.

If you really want to focus on a few specific behaviors with your dog, and want to learn how to work with you dog long-term, this method is very popular.

1:1 Puppy-Raising Package: Because Your Puppy Deserves a Great Start

Most puppies don’t come with an owner’s guide, and the ones that do usually don’t cover the important stuff like obedience, training, and that ever-important puppy socialization.

Socialization is a critical period that you can’t get back once it’s passed. You’ll save a lot of headaches and training dollars by making sure you are setting your puppy up for success at a young age.

We offer affordable puppy training with our 1:1 Puppy Raising package. All your burning puppy-training questions will be answered, such as:

  • What is the first thing you should train your puppy to do?
  • What’s the best age to start training your puppy?

  • What age is a puppy hardest to train?

  • How do you train a puppy when you work full time?

  • And so much more!

When you welcome a new puppy into your family, it’s an exciting, joyous time. Our puppy-training package will help you keep those good vibes going as it empowers you to build a strong foundation for your new addition to the family.

Does It Work?

Puppies are so much fun and so stinkin’ cute, but they do have a lot to learn. They are still discovering the world while learning how to be obedient with good manners.

You can start early! Once your puppy has received his vaccinations and boosters, and is at least 5 months old, he is ready to begin training with us. But your at-home training should start as soon as he comes home!

This package is great for new dog guardians as well as busy professionals. And if you own a breed that may need a little more attention for socialization and training during puppyhood, well, you’ll benefit, too.

Common struggles that can become rooted in puppyhood (separation anxiety, house-training, chewing and biting) are all addressed in these sessions. This gets your little guy off to a great start to set your puppy up for success.

The importance of socialization for puppies cannot be overstated. The risk of a puppy developing severe behavioral problems due to lack of socialization is actually greater than the risk of an incompletely vaccinated puppy contracting a disease like Parvo.

In fact, behavioral issues resulting from poor socialization can sometimes lead to behavioral euthanasia, which is a far more common outcome than death from infectious diseases in improperly managed puppies.

In other words — early socialization is lifesaving and sets dogs/guardians up for the best chances of a happy life together.

What Does It Cost?

Our 1:1 Puppy-Raising Package is $2,320 for 14 sessions. We meet twice a week for 7 weeks.

What to Expect

Your puppy-training sessions will cover vital areas that will help your puppy thrive:

  • Expert guidance

  • Socialization support
  • Preventive training
  • Confidence building

Want Your Puppy To Be a S.T.A.R.?

We offer the S.T.A.R. Puppy Test to puppies under 1 year old that have participated in at least 6 weeks of puppy training with us. Our training classes provide an excellent opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs, enhancing their social skills.

In these classes focused on achieving the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction, you’ll not only gain insights into the common challenges of raising a puppy, but you’ll also discover effective methods for teaching important commands, such as coming when called.

Furthermore, the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program is a great stepping stone to the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program, laying a strong groundwork for your dog’s training journey.

Sliding Scale Program: Affordable Dog Training for Guardians of Shelter and Rescue Dogs

We are committed to keeping rescue and shelter dogs in their homes. If accessing training services would prevent you from affording your basic needs (food, shelter and clothing), and you have a dog adopted through a rescue or shelter, please contact us to discuss a sliding scale.

We do not ask for proof of financial hardship.

Please note that we can offer limited sliding-scale slots per month for training support, and a waiting list is available if all slots are filled for the current month.
